President Donald Trump made more than 21,000 securities trades in 2025, his first year back in the White House, according to a financial disclosure that puts the total value of those transactions between 600 million and 1.86 billion dollars.
A Trading Pace Tied to Market Turmoil
The filing shows Trump averaged 85 trades on every day markets were open, but the activity was far from steady. Just 10 days accounted for roughly a quarter of all trades logged in 2025, and many of those clusters landed during stretches of heightened volatility on Wall Street, often right after Trump himself had announced a policy shift that rattled prices.
Trump holds eight separate trading accounts, and the disclosure reveals an odd pattern across them: in more than 200 instances, he was buying a stock in one account on the same day he was selling the identical stock in another. Many of the names involved are large companies that do business with the federal government, a detail that has drawn attention from watchdog groups already examining how the presidency and his personal finances intersect.

Crypto Income Adds to the Scrutiny
The same disclosure lists at least 1.4 billion dollars in earnings tied to crypto and memecoin ventures during 2025. Combined with the sheer volume of stock trading, the numbers have fed a broader narrative among critics who argue the president's business interests and public office are becoming difficult to separate, even if no laws have been shown to be broken.
Trump Pushes Back on Profit Questions
Speaking at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday before leaving for North Dakota, Trump brushed aside questions about whether he was benefiting improperly from his position. He noted he was already wealthy before taking office and credited the market's climb for any gains.
